Forest School First Aid with optional Paediatric First Aid

The Forest Schools First Aid course is totally integrated with the Forest School ethos, rationale and the unique professional requirements of Forest School workers.

The requirements for Forest School first aid can be met by completing an Outdoor First Aid course. However many groups prefer or require specialist and tailored training involving infants for instance, with a tailored, contextualised approach to content often mixing elements of infant/child/adult training as determined by the group. This training course is designed to provide that flexibility. The content reflects the unique environments in which you work, and the challenges that you can face. It is the course of choice for the professional Forest School practitioner, who wants a custom course designed around their craft and their profession.

In its Guidance note – First Aid for Forest School, the Forest School Association (FSA) strongly recommends that a Level 3 qualified Forest School Practitioner holds a current first aid qualification as covered in the Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL) statement of good practice for Outdoor First Aid at Band 3. This course meets the criteria laid out. This course would also meet the criteria laid out for Level 2 and Level 1 qualified Forest School Assistants.

Paediatric First Aid qualification – optional

For those leaders working in an environment where there is a need to hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, this can be incorporated into the syllabus and all attendees that need it will receive a Paediatric First Aid Certificate as well. There is an additional fee of £20 per student for this optional qualification.

Paediatric First Aid Level 3 – blended option

Paediatric First Aid

This is a Level 3 Accredited Qualification, recognised Nationally. When comparing prices, non-accredited qualifications are cheaper, however you need to make sure that they meet National Standards and be able to show this during an OfSTED inspection. Sometimes cheaper can be a false saving.

The course is aimed at anybody who comes into contact with children including pre-school staff, nursery staff, play workers, children centre staff, teachers, Learning Support Assistants, holiday camp workers, parent and toddler group volunteers, child minders, nannies, foster carers, au pairs, parent helpers, babysitters, community workers, youth workers, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. If you are likely to take your groups outside on field trips we also offer an enhanced Outdoor Paediatric First Aid course.

The Blended version is taken by sitting a 6-hour online part followed by 1 day in the classroom. If it is a problem to release staff for two days, then the Blended version is an ideal method for achieving the course with only 1 day away from the classroom – the online part may be fitted in as and when is convenient.
